Wood Working in a Day FAB

Make a Camera Ready Nest Box for Small Birds

Wood Working in a Day for Absolute Beginners

In this tutorial we will make a side view, camera ready nesting box like the one pictured, in Iroko.

Iroko is an African tropical hard wood, similar in appearance to Teak and being resistant to both rot and insect attack.

This course will introduce you to using the following tools

The course materials cost £46, which includes all of the Iroko boards needed to make the project, which will be yours to keep at the end of the day. Everything you need to complete the project will be included (either in the materials package or as "free issue" supplies in Makespace) and no prior experience will be assumed, although for safety reasons you will need to complete the online training for all of the red equipment which you will need to use, you DO NOT need to schedule a practical assessment for these tools, this will be done as part of the day.

Once you have been registered on the course you will need to provide payment by bank transfer at least 1 day before the first session.

The course will consist of a single session, starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm. Each step of the project will be discussed and demonstrated. Each participant will then have the opportunity to complete that step of the process on their project.

The materials for the project will be provided as a set of boards cut to rough length and planed to thickness. It may be possible to link this with a session a week before to mill these boards from rough saen boards using the Planer / Thicknesser.
