Note: this video is not about our exact pillar drill, but most of the information is applicable.
What it's for: Drilling accurate, straight holes in wood, plastic and metal, up to 13 mm. Better than a hand drill when holes need to be square to the surface or exactly the same depth.
How to use it:
Lift the guard out of the way
Insert your bit
Raise the table until it nearly touches the bit
Set the depth
Secure your work - clamp the work to the table
Put scrap wood underneath, or ensure the bit is going through the hole in the table.
Put the guard back down.
Drill, baby, drill!
Safety: No gloves, and tie back hair, sleeves and jewellery: the spindle winds them in. Wear eye protection and closed-toe shoes. Lock the guard down before drilling. If the bit jams, switch off; never try to stop spinning work. Drill deep holes a little at a time. Easy does it.
